The Painting Muse

Updated: Oct 16, 2025

I've been trying to launch my blog for months, well, almost a year now, and on my third attempt, I realized that I needed to make room for my writing. Not because I want to make myself look like a writer or poet, pffsst..., not at all, but instead, it´s to give myself a breath of fresh air, a break from my drawings. To let another creative practice help me let go, reanalyze, and leave behind the pressure of using AI, at least for a little while. Thus, allowing me to go old-school, And allow me to feel like one use to, a human being, of flesh, bone, and a working brain, alive and writhing with creativity.

So with these few lines, I welcome you and leave you with this illustration, in a style I keep close and don't express much anymore... inspired by the surrealists, the eccentrics, and the thinkers, and especially by those who spend more time in that world only known to fairies and gnomes, leaving the rational earthlings behind for a bit. - A.S.

I made this in 2013 when I was trying to master the digital brush. I titled it, The One Who Knows. Inspired by the book, Women Who Run with the Wolves by Dr. Clarissa Pínkola-Estés.
